cantina haiku
Haikus are a form of poetry that originated in Japan. While the subject matter traditionally tends to focus on the seasons and nature, we know them best for their short length and simple structure. A Haiku is 3 lines long, and each line is a set number of syllables (5,7,5 is what we’re most familiar with). The best part for some is that there is no rhyming scheme to worry about, because there’s no rhymes at all!While you join us tonight, perhaps in the spirit of our space, jot down a little Haiku of your own! We’ll post them on the “wall” (a special space in the AE discord) and, with permission of course, we hope to publish a few in our April edition of the magazine.

tournament rules
This is NOT a midi editing competition or a contest of song quality—it’s about how well the bard can rise to each challenge.
Only solo bards may enter.
Each bard will be placed into a team of three.
There are (3) teams; Red, Blue, Yellow.
There are 3 rounds.
Entrants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the competition, even if eliminated. (10pm-1am EST at the latest)
Teams will choose their own team names before the competition begins.
Performers will be judged individually, but team scores will determine the winner.
Each round, the lowest-scoring bard(s) from each team will be eliminated.
Audience interaction is highly encouraged. Eliminated bards can still help earn a bonus point for their team by hyping in the chat. (1) bonus point will be awarded to 1 team for the most hype/audience engagement during Rounds 1 and 2.
Performers are encouraged to think outside the box, use glamour, and minions to match the theme of the round. (1) bonus point will be awarded to 1 team for uniqueness/creativity during Rounds 1 and 2.
The winning team is decided by the cumulative team score for all 3 rounds. The grand prize is 50 million gil, awarded to the winning team.
Round Breakdown
Round one - Team Medley
Each team designs a cohesive 3-song medley, with one song performed by each team member. The team will agree upon the order in which each bard performs their song.
Medleys will be judged on flow and presentation.
Judges will award (1) bonus point to the team with the most overall hype/audience engagement.
Judges will award (1) bonus point to the team with the most overall uniqueness/creativity.
4 min limit per song
At the end of the round, the lowest scoring bard from each team will be eliminated.
Round three - Ultimate Face-Off
The top 3 bards compete head-to-head on behalf of their team, performing their most iconic song. Performance order will go from the highest scoring bard to the lowest from Round 2.
Judging will focus on stage presence and audience engagement.
5 min limit per song
Round two - Echoes of Eorzea
Each bard performs a song inspired by a different iconic location within the realm. This should not actually be a song from within the game. The location will be selected at random from a spinning wheel (The Wheel of Fate). The Wheel of Fate will be spun on stream to determine the result of which location the bard is to draw inspiration from. Each bard is given 2mins to prepare song and glamour.
Bards will be judged on theme relevance and presentation.
Judges will award (1) bonus point to the team with the most overall hype/audience engagement.

4 min limit per song
At the end of the round, the lowest scoring bard from each team will be eliminated.
